2004 Trinitas Old Vine Petite Sirah, Lodi

Story

Trinitas was founded by Tim and Steph Busch and is dedicated to bringing historical California vineyards and varietals to the forefront of winemaking. This fruit is grown on the Highway 88 Ranch on the southeast side of Lodi. Even though the vineyard might not be aesthetically pleasing to the eye; the quality of fruit we get from these 50 year old vines make this one of the highest quality Petite Sirah’s in California, proving the old adage “you can never judge a book by its cover” in this case you have to taste what’s in the bottle.

Tasting Notes

An impenetrable black ruby color foretells the concentration of this monster wine. Effusive blue fruits, including blackberries, blueberries and boysenberries are framed by an earthly elegance that dominates the nose of this wine. Big ripe tannins balance the richness without being astringent, resulting in a mouth feel that is almost permanent. Easily able to age for a minimum of 10 years; enjoy this wine with a rack of lamb, duck confit or braised beef.
